Johnstown Demesne
A large-scale residential development under construction for Westin Homes at Johnstown, Enfield, Co. Meath: 308 homes across four adjoining sites, a childcare facility, a 2.3 ha GAA pitch, and new accesses onto the Enfield Relief Road (R148) with right-turn lanes, ghost islands, two-way cycle track and pedestrian and cycle connections through to Newcastle Woods. Neither the public foul nor the public water network had capacity to serve the scheme, and the Irish Water upgrades needed to release it were years out. Rather than wait, a temporary strategy was designed to carry the development in the interim with an underground wastewater treatment plant, a foul pumping station and rising main, together with temporary potable water treatment — all configured so it can be decommissioned and switched over to the public networks once the upgrades come on stream, without disturbing completed homes.
